Meet the Maker Blog

Recently, my wonderful supplier, Dannells, approached me to write a feature for their “Meet the Maker” blog post. This wonderful space on their website provides great insight into the many lampshade makers across the country. I jumped at the opportunity to be featured and to share a bit about my business and how it all started.
In the blog post, I delve into the inspiration behind my work, the creative process involved in making lampshades, and the journey that led me to this point. This will be my first joint exhibition, and I’m sharing the space with the very talented ceramicist, Ken Eardley. I’m looking forward to seeing our work displayed together in this wonderful gallery in Farnham, a World Craft Town. I believe that our distinct styles will complement each other beautifully. This opportunity to showcase our creations in a venue dedicated to craftsmanship is truly exciting, and I hope it resonates with visitors who appreciate the art form.

Wow, what a great weekend exhibiting at Craft Festival Cheltenham. Sarah and the team really do create the most amazing events.

A beautifully simple way to add colourful statements to your home, you can cluster with a couple of shades or as many as as you like. I prefer the balance of odd numbers so would suggest a cluster pendant with 3 or 5 lampshades.

Charity Project - Creativity supporting mental health
Charity is how this whole company started and charity support remains so important to both myself and the business. Over the summer I took my potters wheel to Michael House hostel for the homeless to have a fun afternoon of pottery throwing in their wonderful garden with Mark and some of the residents there. Creativity really can help with managing our mental health and has really been a life saver for me over the last 10 years since the passing of my mum.
We had a fantastic afternoon creating pots and chatting about our lives. Sometimes when we are feeling overwhelmed by life, your struggles, a bereavement or just juggling life itself having a process driven activity to completely focus the mind can really reset how we feel.
The world is a difficult place right now so to be able to help this wonderful hostel through creative practice at the most difficult of times really does mean the world to this small business.
